Consolidating off Dropbox onto Microsoft 365

A professional services firm, New Zealand

Paying for Dropbox and Microsoft 365 both. We migrated cleanly to one platform the team already worked in.

The challenge

The business had outgrown Dropbox Professional but was also paying for Microsoft 365 it barely used for files — duplicate cost, split workflows, and a team unsure where anything lived. They wanted to consolidate, but migrating files and their permission structures cleanly is where these projects usually come unstuck.

What we did

We used a temporary Dropbox Business upgrade to unlock the SharePoint Migration Manager, then moved the file structure into SharePoint and OneDrive with permissions mapped across rather than rebuilt by hand. Once everything was verified in its new home, Dropbox was decommissioned.

The result

One platform instead of two, the duplicate subscription gone, and files sitting where the team already works every day in Teams and SharePoint. No more "which system is this in?"
